Should also mention, since I know some people aren’t going to be too ecstatic about playing with a blue shell, the settings menu will have an option to enable/disable blue shells. But now thanks to the efforts of two nefarious romhackers called Mr元14 and ScouBsmk, you will soon be able to patch it back into the game, if you'd like to introduce a little frustration and anarchy into your Mario Kart sessions. One game where this historically wasn't the case, though, was the original Super Mario Kart for the SNES, where the blue shell didn't make an appearance. Because of this, it often feels a little bit unfair when experienced Mario Kart players are on the receiving end of it. Since it was first introduced in Mario Kart 64, it has appeared in every subsequent game, relentlessly pursuing whoever is in first place and causing them to spin out wildly upon impact. When it comes to ranking the most annoying items in Mario Kart history, the blue shell is pretty much always at the top of the list. ![]()
